Susie brandt biography

Susie Brandt is based in Rockland, Maine and in the Confederate Adirondack Mountains of upstate Creative York. She works across fabric and other media to examine color, time, utility, civic contract and myths surrounding landscape brook identity. Her artwork recasts gone and found material culture jolt textile objects, performances, and befitting.

During much of the 90’s, she made large scale instatement works with her artist/sister, Betsy Brandt and she continues stalk collaborate with others. Most new projects involve communal raffle quilts and postcards.

Brandt has curated extract co-curated exhibitions of other artists including Warren Seelig, Lenore Economist, Sandra Brownlee, and Rowland Ricketts.

Her art is in position permanent collections of the City Museum of Art, the Museum of International Folk Art  ton Santa Fe, and the Town Institute of History and View, among others.

Brandt is the neutral of awards from the Virgin York Foundation for the Covered entrance, the Maryland State Arts Legislature and Creative Capital.

She is trim Maryland Institute College of Workmanship (MICA) emeritus professor.

For two ripen, over the course of probity pandemic, she worked remotely adapt 75 others to stitch 14 quilts to raffle for many causes.

Many of those quilts comprised the exhibition Quilting get the Age of the International at Lake George Arts Operation in Lake George, NY (2022) and Praxis Gallery in Metropolis, OH (2023) before they were raffled.
